I previously talked about the 1874 Franklin Institute Exhibition in a couple of past posts like this one, which had some links to various stereographs; a primitive way to present 3d-like images, similar to the VR goggles we use today with cell phones. (Makes me wonder if there’s an app to view these old pics). Anyway, I’m pleased to share one I actually found myself!

With the weather getting warmer I’ve been going through my yard equipment, and one thing I havent used in a bit was a Homelite Pressure washer I picked up at one of the big box hardware stores a couple years ago. I tried to use it either in 2019 or 2020 and found it wouldn’t build pressure, so I figured either the relief valve is stuck or something else happened. This model has a Honda GCV-160 4 cycle gas engine on it.

Here’s a fun one I tackled recently; brand new Lenovo T15 laptop, fresh Windows install, but the built-in microphone is missing (in Windows)! Camera is working.

I don’t think I posted this before, but in my thrift shop adventures, I’ve found a few recording booth records, which are records that were recorded in an actual recording booth. The machines that used to make these are pretty rare now and worth quite a bit.

When I moved out of my parents house, my cat Cleo, on request of…the rest of the household, remained at home. While I wasn’t too happy with that idea at the time, I did realize that she was used to the property and had a large yard to explore, so I begrudgingly agreed and Cleo stayed behind. I had adopted Cleo from a coworker in 2005 as a stray kitten. While not being the most personable cat sometimes, Cleo spent many a night with me curled up between the keyboard and my monitor, or parked in my lap while I messed with computers into the late evenings. She enjoyed playing fetch with pistachios of all things, and wrestling with me.
She got her name from Cleo (aka Cleopatra), the cat in the Heathcliff cartoon series. Since this was the first female cat we’ve ever had, and for some reason, despite not having seen that series for a decade or more, that was the first thing that came to mind for “female cat”.

My first experience with switching a user from an existing calling plan in Microsoft Teams to Direct Routing did not go as planned. Not at all. I’ll walk you through what I did…and what I did wrong, as googling this particular error didn’t really lead me to the answer!
I seemingly had everything right – I followed the Configure Direct Routing documents to the T, and to switch the user over, I removed their calling plan, and then used powershell to add the ONPREMURI property (aka the user’s phone number) in E.164 format with the tel: prefix to the Teams user. I have the SBC all set up and outbound calls are working fine, yet inbound calls don’t seem to be working, as I’m getting a “404 Not Found” reply to the SBC invites in the SIP traces.

OneDrive – “The Documents folder contains other important folders…”
Yet another dreaded hurdle trying to enable OneDrive “Backup” (previously labeled as KFM, or “Known Folder Move”). When trying to enable OneDrive backup, you get an error: “The Documents folder contains other important folders and isn’t supported for file protection.”
Venturing into Home Automation? Put a little thought into it first!
Disclaimer: I was not paid for any brands or products mentioned; everything I have was purchased on my own dime and accord.
I was going to start this post out by saying “Don’t start your home automation journey by just buying into some tech product”, but after thinking about it, just about every time I’ve ever gotten into messing with home automation products, it was usually one product that got me into it, so chances are this may have been what got you into the rabbit hole to begin wtih.

Hard to believe it was a year ago. It feels like 10 years ago, and on top of that, a bit ironic; for someone that nearly never wore a suit outside of a Wedding or Funeral, to actually wear a suit out to an event. Perhaps it really was a funeral…for events?

Well, 2020 came and went, and uhh, well, good riddance!
I’ve been slacking over the last few weeks, mostly working and haven’t really messed too much with projects or hobby stuff recently. Personally, I’ve been struggling in the motivation department; I guess seasonal depression on top of the pandemic and everything else isn’t doing me or anyone any favors lately. On a positive note, I *have* done a few things though…
