PhillyClassic 4 Video Game Expo – Pics, and a Tribute

Anyway, all that aside, I finally dug up some pics of the PhillyClassic shows, so today I’ll feature a couple pics from PhillyClassic 4 that happened in 2003. Yes, 17 years ago. Woof.

My booth in the middle of the PC4 vendor floor. Great location! You got a better deal on your booth for each playable game you provided.
Pretty sure this was during the Friday night setup, and shows what the convention center used to look like.
My friend Francis about to play Toobin in the arcade area
Some more pics of the arcade area, including a Konami GT game (far left) I had up for sale. I’m pretty sure I brought that game again for PC5, and eventually someone did contact me to buy it after the show.
Pretty sure this was the end of Saturday, with another day of fun yet to come. Francis photo-bombing my pics as always.

It’s interesting to note that there seemed to be a ton of space at PC4; it did get busier though, and PC5 had a LOT more going on, and I have a lot more pics of that one.

You can find a TON more pics, and even a couple videos of PC4 (and PC5) thanks to the Internet Archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20050403184650/http://www.phillyclassic.com/media.php

In Memoriam

On a sad note, one notable person who contributed a LOT to some of the PhillyClassic shows, as well as numerous other shows, events, groups, and even VCF Events, has passed away today. I can’t say I knew Curt Vendel, but he was a hard-core Atari historian who was involved with and hauled tons of displays and memorabilia to many shows I’ve been to. Rest in peace Curt; you definitely got the high score in the game of life. I encourage anyone to check out the Atari Museum page.
